Meet Helen

Helen is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor with over a decade in public practice across New Zealand and Australia. She works with property investors who want their tax and structures set up properly from the start, and who like to understand the reasoning behind the advice they receive.

Helen is a property investor herself and has been investing since 2012. In that time she has built a substantial New Zealand portfolio across a range of strategies: simple buy and holds, multi unit properties, rent by room homes, boarding houses, build to rent projects, subdivisions and developments. She has made the structuring, financing and tax decisions on each one with her own money. When clients bring her a decision, there’s a good chance she has faced the same one. She also enjoys mentoring other investors as they grow their own portfolios.

She started HSCG to give proactive investors the confidence to make sound decisions. Good advice at the right time means fewer costly mistakes, a smoother path and getting to your goals sooner. HSCG is a small boutique firm by choice. Helen takes on a limited number of clients so each one gets her full attention, and she enjoys working with like minded investors who think ahead.

Her approach is simple. She explains things in plain language, walks you through the reasoning behind every recommendation and plans ahead so nothing catches you out at year end. Whether you own one rental or are partway through your fifth development, she treats your affairs with the same care she gives her own.

Outside work you’ll find Helen travelling, snorkelling, on the yoga mat or on the badminton court. Family comes first, and that is why she deliberately keeps her client numbers limited. The balance lets her give clients her best work without missing the moments that matter at home.
